Cook required for a brand new Early Childhood Education service in Box Hill (Sydney)

Come join this brand new non-for profit service opening in January 2022 as a service cook, a great opportunity to be apart of the inaugural team of dedicated professionals.

Warami ~ Hello (Darug)

This service is located on land that is part of the Country of the inland Darug people, whose territory extended from the Blue Mountains to the coast. The word Darug comes from the Aboriginal word for yam.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced cook who is passionate about providing tasty nutritional meals and snacks for children, set to start in the new year. You will be working in a brand new commercial kitchen with air conditioning and sophisticated appliances, including a Miele stove.

If this is you, come and join a Non-for Profit Early Childhood Education service located in the Box Hill area in Sydney’s Hill District. You will be working alongside other dedicated Early Childhood Education professionals in an organisation that supports the health and wellbeing of children.
About the role:
  • Working Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 3pm.
  • 35 hours per week perm part time.
  • Approx $23.79 - $30.36 ph ($43K - $55K + 10% Super).
  • Non-for profit, brand new service with excellent facilities.
  • Preparation of food for the children at the service.
  • Ordering & purchasing supplies in consultation with the Director / Educational Leader.
  • Support the health & wellbeing of the children through planning & preparing nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Consult with families and guardians regarding their children’s dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Work in collaboration with all team members and stakeholders.
  • Engage in self-reflection practices to guide professional and personal development.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and other staff professional development activities.
  • Undertake Child Protection/Child Awareness training as directed by the Nominated Supervisor.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to cross organisation projects and activities.
About you (Criteria):
  • Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent with a unit of completion in Menu Planning.
  • Safety in Food Handling Certification.
  • Food and Menu Planning Certification.
  • Possesses current ‘HLTAID004 or HLTAID012- Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting’ Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid and current NSW Paid Working with Children Check.
  • Current Working Rights.
  • Police Check
  • Experience in providing allergy safe food.
  • Must be available Monday to Friday
  • Experience in providing allergy safe food.
  • First Aid /Asthma/Anaphylaxis or willing to obtain.
  • Excellent time management and orgnaisational skills.
  • Experience in shopping online & stock management.
  • Actively support the organisation’s philosophy, policies and procedures and positively represent the organisation to external contacts at all opportunities.
  • Previous experience in nutrition and dietary requirements of children.
  • Understanding and ability to accommodate both cultural and medical dietary requirements.
  • Previous experience working within an early education setting.
COVID-19 Vaccination:
It is a requirement in NSW that any ECEC (and OSHC) staff across the state must receive two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination by 8 November 2021.
