This Service is located on traditional Darramuragal country or Darug land. This OSHC service aims to work collaboratively with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to learn from their knowledge and perspectives, and to respectfully share learnings among the children, educators, and the wider community.

 
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced OSHC educator to step into a Educational Leader / Responsible Person role at an Exceeding service in Killara. This service boasts brand-new facilities including an OSHC space and separate office.

They ensure best practice adhering to a 1:12 ratio, keeping their Responsible Person on shift out of ratio (allowing you to liaise with families and children, and mentor your educators) & implementing mentorship programs.As the Responsible Person you will manage the shift structure by ensuring educators & children are engaged in the service, quality programs are implemented, and compliance is adhered to.

We are seeking someone experienced in managing a team and who has the communication skills to form strong relationships with the school community including parents & the teaching staff.

About the role:
  • Senior Educator role that will step into the Responsible Person position in the absence of the Nominated Supervisor
  • Support the educators professional practice as the Educational Leader
  • Mentor and support the team in implementing a developmentally appropriate program
  • Permanent part-time | 22 hours per week (flexible shift structure - option to only work afternoons)
  • Above award wages $27-$30 per hour (dependent on qualifications & experience)
  • When acting in the Responsible Person position you will be out-of-ratio
  • Off-the-floor hours to support a strong program
  • Collaborative team approach to the educational program
  • Start date: as soon as possible
 
 
About the service:
  • Exceeding Service
  • Own OSHC space located on school grounds including play space with separate office space
  • Access to various areas of the school including school hall, multi-purpose courts, play equipment & veggie gardens
  • Strong Management Team including 2 Directors, 2 Assistant Directors & 2 Senior Educators / RP’s
  • Service implements extracurricular programs to encourage children into team sports, languages, creative arts
  • Service runs at a 1:12 ratio
  • Strong focus on educator wellbeing including mentorship programs, staff social gatherings & supportive management team
  • Service has a strong relationship with the school including school executive team, school P&C and wider community
  • Service is licensed for 125 | Current utilisation approx. 30-40 of a morning & 75-80 of an afternoon | expectant growth in the new year

About you:
  • You have prior experience in an OSHC Leadership role / Responsible Person position previously
  • You have a great understanding of the My Time Our Place Learning Framework
  • You have a great understanding of the National Quality Framework and all it encompasses
  • You have experience in Educational Leadership and the mentoring of educators.
  • You have a love of working with children and passion for child development
  • You have good communication skills and can engage with families, schoolteachers & other stakeholders
  • You are assertive and have strong initiative when it comes to people management & running a quality program
  • You have experience working with a diverse range of children and have a range of behaviour engagement strategies to ensure each child is included in the program
  • You can effectively manage a team of educators to implement quality programs and routines
 
 
Pre-requisites:
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk - Accredited Child Protection or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
  • HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
  • Previous experience in a Responsible Person position
  • Valid Working with Children Check
