About the role:
  
The educational leader has an influential role in inspiring, motivating, affirming and also challenging or extending the practice and pedagogy (teaching) of educators.
  
The role is a collaborative one involving inquiry and reflection, which can significantly impact on the important work educators do with children and families.
  • A full time, 38 hour per week position. Flexibility in how the hours are made up each week. Perhaps worked over 4 days per week with block shifts or block shifts over 5 days. This is flexible for the right candidate.
  • Plenty of admin hours for this position to complete your role.
  • Assist the Centre Coordinator to lead and manage the day to day operations of the Centre and step up and lead the centre in the absence of the Centre Coordinator when needed.
  • Focus area of Educational Leader (EL) that sits at a second in charge level of the centre.
  • As the EL, collaborate with educators and provide program direction and guidance, support educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices, lead the development of the program, and ensure children’s learning and development are guided by the learning outcomes in My Time Our Place.
  • Identify training needs of the team and help to organise in house or external training.
  • Organise vacation care program, bookings, risk assessments, etc.
  • Have a high understanding and work with the play-based framework, My Time Our Place, that focuses on the social and emotional development of children.
  • Great training budget that is encouraged to use to further develop skills.
  • Work alongside the Assistant Coordinator of the service and be aware of each other’s roles and supportive of one another as equals.

Who are we looking for?
  • Passionate and personable – someone who is able to inspire the other educators and the children at the centre.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Someone that can lead, and not manage, others.
  • Ability to work independently and within the team.
  • High emotional intelligence with a great sense of social awareness. Someone who looks out for other staff, checks in on them, recognises birthdays and special events.
  • A positive role model for other educators.
  • High level of understanding of the NQF and all it encompasses - NQS, Framework, Regulations.
  • CHCPRT001: Identify and respond to children and young people at risk - Accredited Child Protection (or willing to obtain, 1 day course).
  • HLTAID004: Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting (or willing to obtain, 1 day course).
